Course overview
This module is a reconstruction of an accident involving a dumper. The two areas of focus are; safe working practices and individual behviours that may seem insignificant and how these matter because they contribute to a positive safety culture on site.
The aims are to get the attendees to recognise the correct arrangements for operating and working around plant, including:
- Planned communication methods between plant operator and pedestrians (both work team and passers-by)
- Where the safe places to stand when working around plant
- Correct use of seat belts
- Importance of understanding plant capabilities in relation to the task
- Adherence to the site speed limit
Plus personal roles in improving safety on site including recognising complacency and how this affects behaviour, the impact of pressure on individual behaviour, recognising changes in the work environment and importance of reassessing the risks these may introduce and the importance of challenging unacceptable standards to improve safety performance through close call/near miss/observation reporting.
For classroom training there is a maximum of 8 delegates per session.
